Board of Directors
Lord James Blyth, 67, joined the Anixter board in 1995. Since 2000 Blyth has been Chairman of Diageo plc, a beverage company. He has been Senior Advisor since 2007 and was Vice Chairman from 2004 to 2007 of Greenhill Co., an investment bank. Prior to this, Blyth was a Partner in that company from 2002 to 2004, and Senior Advisor from 2000 through 2002.
Linda Walker Bynoe, 55, joined the Anixter board in 2006. Since 1995 she has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Telemat Ltd., a project management and consulting firm based in Chicago, since 1995. Bynoe also is a Director of Northern Trust Corporation, Simon Property Group, Inc. and Prudential Retail Mutual Funds.
Robert L. Crandall, 72, has been an Anixter Director since 1999. He was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AMR Corporation, an air transportation and diversified services company, from 1985 to 1998. Crandall also is a Director for Celestica Inc. and Halliburton Company.
Robert J. Eck, 49, joined the board when he became the President and Chief Executive Officer of Anixter in July 2008. From September 2007 until July 2008 Eck was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Eck joined the company in 1989 and has served in a variety of positions with Anixter Inc., the company's principal operating subsidiary, as Executive Vice President - Enterprise Cabling and Security Solutions (2004 - 2007), Senior Vice President - Physical Security Products and Integrated Supply (2003) and Senior Vice President - Integrated Supply Solutions (2002).
Robert W. Grubbs, Jr., 51, has served on the board since 1997. Grubbs had been Anixter's former President and Chief Executive Officer from 1998 to June 2008. From 1994 to June 2008 he had been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Anixter Inc., the company's principal operating subsidiary.
F. Philip Handy, 63, has been an Anixter Director since 1986. Handy is a private investor. Chief Executive Officer since 2001 of Strategic Industries, LLC., a diversified global manufacturing enterprise. Handy also is a Director for Rewards Network Inc., Owens Corning and WCI Communities, Inc.
Melvyn N. Klein, 66, joined the Anixter board in 1985. He has been President of JAKK Holding Corp., a General Partner of the investment partnership GKH Partners, L.P. since 1987. Klein founded Melvyn N. Klein Interests and, has been an Attorney and Counselor-at-Law since 1968.
George Muñoz, 55, joined the Anixter board in 2004. He is also a Principal in Muñoz Investment Banking Group, LLC. In addition, Muñoz is a Partner in the law firm of Tobin, Petkus & Muñoz since 2001. From 1997 to 2001 Muñoz served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. Muñoz currently serves as a Director of Marriott International Inc. and Altria Group, Inc.
Stuart M. Sloan, 64, has served on Anixter's board since 1994. Since 1984 he has been a Principal of Sloan Capital Companies, a private investment company. Sloan also sits on the board of J. Crew Group, Inc. and Clearwire Corporation.
Thomas C. Theobald, 70, has been an Anixter Director since 1995. Since 2004 Theobald has been Senior Advisor of Chicago Growth Partners. He previously was a Managing Director of William Blair Capital Partners, L.L.C. from 1994 to 2004. From 1987 to 1994, Theobald was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Continental Bank Corporation. He is also Chairman of Columbia Mutual Funds and is a Director of Jones, Lang LaSalle Inc., AMBAC Financial Group and Ventas Inc.
Matthew Zell, 41, joined the Anixter board in 2001. He has been Managing Director since 2001 of Equity Group Investments, L.L.C., a private investment company. From 1990 to 2001, Zell was President of Prometheus Technologies, Inc., and its predecessor, an information technology consulting firm. Zell also is a Director of Desarrolladora Homex S.A. de C.V. Zell is the son of board Chairman Samuel Zell.
Samuel Zell, 66, has been a Director since 1984, and Chairman of the Board of Directors since 1985. He has served as Chairman of Equity Group Investments, L.L.C., a private investment company, since 1999 and its President since 2006; Zell has been the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of the Tribune Co., a diversified media company, since December 2007 and has been a Director since May 2007. Sam was a trustee and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Equity Office Properties Trust, an equity real estate investment trust primarily focused on office buildings, from October 1996 until its acquisition in February 2007, its Chief Executive Officer from April 2002 to April 2003, and its President from April 2002 until November 2002. Zell has also been Chairman of the Board of Covanta Holding Corporation (previously known as Danileson Holding Corporation), a waste-to-energy and specialty insurance services company, since September 2005, served as its President, Chairman and CEO from July 2002 until December 2004, and was a Director from 1999 until 2004. For more than the past five years, Zell has been Chairman of the Board of Equity Lifestyle Properties, Inc. (previously known as Manufactured Home Communities, Inc.), an equity real estate investment trust primarily engaged in the ownership and operation of manufactured home resort communities; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Equity Residential, an equity real estate investment trust that owns and operates multi-family residential properties; and Chairman of the Board of Capital Trust, Inc., a specialized finance company. He is the father of Matthew Zell.
Executive Officers
Robert J. Eck, President - Chief Executive Officer, 49. Eck has held this position since July 2008. From September 2007 until June 2008 Eck was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Anixter. Dennis J. Letham, Executive Vice President -- Finance and Chief Financial Officer, 56. Letham has held these positions since September 2007. Letham was Senior Vice President - Finance and Chief Financial Officer from January 1995 to September 2007. Since 1993, he also has been Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President for Anixter Inc., the company’s principal operating subsidiary.
John A. Dul, Vice President -- General Counsel & Secretary, 46. Dul has been Vice President - General Counsel since May 1998 and Secretary since November 2002. Dul has also been Secretary and General Counsel of Anixter Inc., the company's principal operating subsidiary, since January 1996. Prior thereto, he was Associate General Counsel for six years.
Terrance A. Faber, Vice President -- Controller, 56. He has held this position since October 2000. Prior to joining Anixter, Faber had been Chief Financial Officer of International Survey and Research since January 2000. From 1997 until 2000, Faber was Corporate Controller of BT Office Products International.
Philip F. Meno, Vice President -- Taxes, 48. Meno has operated in this capacity since May 1993.
Nancy C. Ross-Dronzek, Vice President -- Internal Audit, 47. Ross-Dronzek has held this position since December 2007 and of Anixter Inc., the companys principal operating subsidiary, since July 2007. Director - Corporate Audit at The Boeing Company from 2003 to 2007.
Rodney A. Shoemaker, Vice President -- Treasurer, 50. Shoemaker has filled this post since July 1999, when he was promoted from Assistant Treasurer, a job he had held since July 1993.
Rodney A. Smith, Vice President -- Human Resources, 50. Smith has held this position since August 2006. Prior to joining Anixter, Smith was Vice President - Human Resources at UOP, LLC from July 2000 to August 2006.
